"Endorphine" is a nocturnal conversation with oneself in song form, fittingly prickly and soft, folk and grunge. Anyone who doesn't think of "Nirvana Unplugged in New York" while listening hasn't actually heard the record. "Give me endorphins / I need a lot / I think I've used them all up." Anyone unfamiliar with this dull melancholy must be living in a different era. Tocotronic, Peter Licht, and early Udo Lindenberg echo through the conciliatory chorus, complete with angelic voices and a midnight orchestra. The third single from the upcoming album "Das Nichts macht Kopien von sich selbst" also stands out with an unusual clarity: emotional, anti-cyclical, and unprecedented. Proof it wrong.
